It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her bow and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the match."

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
